Summary This is the best Final Fantasy on the Playstation 1.I like this game, and replay it several times. Let me tell you. This is the Final Fantasy that inspired me to play other Final Fantasies. Play this game. The only Final Fantasy that is better than this is Final Fantasy X.(My favorite character is Vivi!) And Trance is 10 times better than Limit Breaks!!Sound The best on PS1. The boss music was a little disappointing. But I love the battle music. Black Mage Village, Hilda Garde 3, Trance Kuja's music, Kuja's theme,"Your not Alone", Melodies of Life, are all great musics and the best out of any Final Fantasy!!!Gameplay Same as others, but with a twist. Certain characters can only use certain abilities. This cuts down on the easiness of other Final Fantasies. So, only Vivi can use black magic whil only Quina can use Blue Magic. And in the very unlikely event thhat you get bored, you can play fun minigames like Tetra Master. The final boss is the most challenging in any Fianl Fantasy game. Now the story. I got very attached to the charcters. That means I cried on some parts. Because Vivi did not fit in, and Freya can't find her boyfriend. Very emotional. The main villian looks like a complete fag however.(Is Kuja really a fag, or did Square make a mistake?) I like the ending, brings you on the brink of tears.Would you like to Comment? Summary This is the latest Final Fantasy game i have played and i must say i was pretty impressed. I like the story and it makes you want to keep playing it and seeing the results and making you want to go further and further into the game. Totally different main charactor from the last one. (Mr. LoneWolf Squall) Not bad graphics. I love the movie clips. They are great for Playstation considering what is out now. Sounds and music i must say is the best thing of the game. I like the story plot a lot. I say its great but nothing compared to the ff7 story. Overall i recommend this game 100%Sound OMG!!!! Best part in the game period! Very Impressed! Several good songs that stick in my mind. Most out of all of them "Your not alone!" I can listen to that all day long. It sets the setting for that sene too and it makes great battle music during those 3 fights. Love the electric guitar in it ROCK ON!! :) Others i must include, freyas theme (haha the river dancing rat LOL) (Gizamaluke's Grotto music ) also black mage village, Mount Gulug, Beatrix & Steiner theme, (when fighting together during attack on Alexandria) mystery sword, Hilda Garde airship theme. hmmm i still can't decide if i like that or the ragnorok one better. The battle theme is the best yet i say. Better than all the other ff battle themes. all the others got old and annoying but this one doesn't get old or annoying what so ever. Boss battle theme was lacking but it was ok. "Your not alone!" is the best though. OVERALL BEST MUSIC IVE HEARD FROM A FF GAME!Gameplay Err... what should i say. Game Play is "good" when you start to play it you love the battles and they are fun just as any other FF game. But as you go along, you get kinda mad and annoyed when your trying to do somthing and "BAM" a battle. Sometimes it makes you want to scream. Chocobo mini game is alright but its taking too long. I like the abilities and such. From ff8, i like how you once again can equip different weapons and the juntioning system of ff8 took awhile to get use to and could be confusing. Its good how certain people can do certian abilities (zidane- stealing, garnet/dagger & Eiko- white magic and summons, Vivi- Black magic and so on) Kuja is a little freaky. He looks like a she. But i heard in the Japanese version kuja is female (might explain the girlish look and the thong) I must say that i love how they made the 4 party member things. It helps in battles a lot. Trance.... BLAH. I would better prefer the old limit breaks back. I don't like trances because it is easily wasted if the enemy is killed right after the trace. Overall good gameplay.Would you like to Comment? Summary One of the most fun, dramatic, emotional RPG's I've played in my life. Square has outdone themselves this time. A theif named Zidane, a mage named Vivi, a Knight named Steiner, a princess named Garnet(a.k.a. Dagger) and other companions travel the world as the fight monsters as they try to solve the many puzzles deep inside themselves.Sound Great sound effects and wonderful music, which was so dramatic and beautiful, I was singing it for days. The sound effects were not like any other games (you know, like were two swords hit each other, and you hear a clang two or three seconds later) the timing was great!Gameplay The story is very understandible and the monsters are easy but get more and more challenging as you progress. This game has many fun missions and extras to keep you hooked, like finding treasure, unlocking new chobocos, and fighting optinal monsters and bosses. Summary I borrowed this game from y friendbecause I was tired of my games and I didnt want to buy a new one....He said for a couple of days I could borrow it, well, a couple of months later he gets it back!Sound The sound is great, and it really gives it the touch of the game! If it is a sad moment, but you dont think it is, it will basically make you due to the music!Gameplay The gameplay is amazing, as some parts can get boring, but the game up until the end of the 3rd disc was pretty simple because I used a GameShark Code for all items ^ ^ It is VERY good...I recommend ANYONE should buy it! Summary When I first saw Steiner in a preview in Gamepro I thought it was going to be a horrible game and told myself that I wouldn't buy it at any cost. Of course I gave in and bought it. My fears grew even further when I found out that Zidane was the main character and that he was a guy. To people who read the intruction manual and actually believed that there were no main characters that all eight were equal in ever way,I feel bad you. It was obvious to me that Zidane and Princess Garnet(Dagger) were the main characters and love interest from the start. As I begin playing I slowly forgot about Zidanes dandy clothes and Kuja's thong and got into the story. I found myself actually careing about the characters. I felt sorrow that Vivi didn't fit in regular peopleand that Freya's long lost love had forgoten her. I was a little disappointed by the story, but I almost cried when I saw the ending. Sound Just like all Final Fanasy games the music was great. I didn't really notice the sound effects so they must have been alright.Gameplay Gameplay was fun. Battles were easy to navigate and very exciting. A hard balancing act for games that have ATB(Active Time Battles). I think I actually played that Chocobo game for 8 hours straight. Summary After both FFVII and FFVIII was set in a futuristic enviroment, FFIX was a welcomed return to a bit less hi-tech world. Although I personally prefer FFVII in front of FFIX, but FFIX is still really good. Here goes my review!Sound The sound is, like in all Final Fantasy games, absolutely perfect. Not much sound effects as usual, but the music is really good. I especially like the ending theme by Emiko Shiratori.Gameplay It's good as usual, but it also has several disturbing gamingelements in it. For example, the chocobo hot & cold game gets really boring after you've played it like 10 times. But in order to get alot of good stuff, like many characters best weapon and stuff like that, you must play hot&cold aLOT! It must be hundreds of times before you've found all the chocographs. The story itself is good, not perfect, but good. I liked the unexpected turns in the game, of course I will not mention them here as that would ruin the gaming experience. ;)Overall, a really good game and a worthy sequel to FFVII, play it! So far I have never played a Final Fantasy that I didnt like. I have also played 7,8,and 10 and all of them were wonderful and this one is just as good. The characters were really cool and the side quests were a lot of fun. This game also has the best ending i have ever seen.Sound Sound is really nice. Final Fantasy never fails to have good music. Ill probably end up buying the soundtrack to the game because the music is that good. Melodies of Life is one of the best songs i have heard in a game.Gameplay Gameplay is nice. The plot is wonderfull, the abilities are unique and there are many items and tons of magic abilities. The game is also very difficult (the first time) and a very engaging plot. The FMVS are really cool too.Sound Music good, but not as good as it could be.Gameplay The battle system is very fun, and all the way summons can have to attacks (like fenrir's millenial decay and terrestrial rage), is really cool. I love the magic, it looks alot better than FF8, which was really a tear down in magic attacks, where nothing but GF mattered. There are also more items, and the FMVS are completely exciting. The story is awesome (although not as good as 7's.) The people in the normal graphics were a little fuzzy, but the cg was awesome and there was lots of it. The sound wasn't really that good compared to the other Final Fantasys but compared to some games out there it is.Sound The sound was the lowest part of the game. The battle music was awesome, especailly the boss music. But later on into the game the music gets a little dull. The music played in Madain Sari is one example. The field music was good and had a nice up-beat tone to it. Overall I'll have to give the music a 4.Gameplay The gameplay was FF9's best part. Tons and tons of mini-games to play around with. Chocobo Hot and Cold is one of the funnest mini-games I've ever played. The battle system is even better then before because now instead of only 3 characters at a time you get to have 4. Summary Final fantasy 9 is a great game to play and experance. The recent final fantasys were more modern and futuristic than the fist final fanatasys on nintendo so going back to the old times was good. though there was not much enphasis on the 'crystal' like in the original final fantasys. the game also has hummor instead of seriousness, which adds a good effect.final fantasy 9 is one of the funest games i've ever played. its music is captivating, its gameplay is so damn fun(parden my french) and its graphics are clean and beautiful. compared to the first final fantasys is unfair. final fantasy 8 had graphics but wasn't much in story and 7 was the best in story but not so much in graphics. final fantasy 9 has both plus has good music to boot. over all its one of the best games i've ever played and the funnest. though if played to death, it can become tedeous. Sound the music and sound effects in final fantasy 9 are stunning to say the least. the songs match the current enviorment making a very good effect from the cheerfulness of alexandria to the saddness and dullness of brumencia. the music itself is very good to listen to. the chocobo music is fun to listen to and beatrixs 'loss of me' keeps you in beat. Most people agree with that which it good, but I am just absolutely shocked at some of the bad reviews. It just, ugh, how can they, ugh, it makes me sick. But anyways, some of the reviews compare this game to ff7. Why would you compare anything to such a masterpiece? Nothing could come close to it. But whatever; I bought this game acouple years ago, beat it, and now I'm playing it again to pass time.Sound Nothing jumps out and is bad, so I would say it's good. The music is good enough to tap your foot to or something, but its not as good as the music of ff7. But hey, now I'm comparing it to ff7. Good sfx for in battle and regular gameplay. It's all good.Overall - a game definitely worth buying especially considering it is probably like ten dollars now. Gameplay Just marvelous. Takes the best from other great games and mixes it up. Learning abilities are easy to figure out and equipping things are easy. The number of sidequests and minigames is just so great, I play the chocobo sidequest for hours on end without progressing the story at all. Final Fantasy Nine was a pretty decent game overall. Does it have FF7's storyline? Hell no. Does it have 10's graphics? No. Does it have the strategic junction system? No. I'll say that it is a game worth playing, and was actually pretty decent. Hell, who doesn't love a flambuoyant, ranting antagonist? (it took me until around disc two to figure out Kujah was male...but now I love him)Sound Songs were decent, but not memorable. I'm trying to remember some now, and am drawing a blank. :) But don't get me wrong. I don't remember turning the volume down at the time.Overall, you won't be displeased by this game. Go ahead and try it. Gameplay Gameplay was pretty good. ATE's are pretty innovative, and the abundance of moogles pleased me. Just because its the weakest doesn't mean it's bad. FF7, FF8, and FF9, are, in my opinion, the 3 greatest games of all time. (in that order) Since this site doesn't have a 'storyline' section, for reviews, I'll mention it here, after I finish what I'm saying.FF9 was a throwback to FFs 1-6, so its not futuristic like FF7 or modern like FF8. However, Square did bring back a great quality from the old-school games: fun! This game is much more fun than FF8 or even FF7. It's just a great game. Total, I give it a 5/5. Now, on to the storyline. (the most important part out of any game.) Fans who didn't like FF8's story but liked the stories of FF1-7 will love the story of FF9. It is very similiar to the story of FF7, (which is a good thing, considering Ff7 is the greatest story ever written) with the big plot twists that keep you on your seat. One place where the storyline fails is the villain department. This is something Square has been struggling for a while, since FF8. After FF7's great villain, the villains in FF8 and FF9 aren't very well-developed and just aren't evil the way Sephiroth was. Besides that, the storyline is great, and could possibly be better than the story of FF8. You really get to love (and hate) the characters. So, I give storyline a 5/5. Sound 5/5All around, better than FF7! The variety is great, from Melodies of Life to Dark City Treno. The best songs are probably: Melodies of Life, Dark City Treno, Vamo' Alla Flamenco, and Behind the Door, and We will Rock You,er- Kuja's Theme (lol) Gameplay 10/10Ingenuis! Brilliant!
